About HMH
High Mountain Horticulture is owned and operated by me, Hannah Harbert. With 22 years of hands-on high-altitude gardening experience and 13 years as a business owner, I bring a unique blend of practical expertise and professional horticultural knowledge to every project.
My journey in gardening began with formal horticulture studies, which provided me with a solid theoretical foundation. However, it's the decades of experience working directly with mountain soils, challenging weather conditions, and diverse plant species that have truly shaped my approach. I couldn't imagine doing anything else, anywhere else—I love that this career allows me to be outside, have my hands in the soil, and create beautiful, thriving spaces for people in our unique mountain environment.
For over two decades, I've dedicated myself to understanding the specific challenges of gardening at elevations ranging from 8,500 to 10,200 feet, from soil composition and water management, to microclimate considerations that can make or break a garden's success at these elevations. As an owner-operated business, I ensure every project receives the meticulous attention and personalized care that comes from being hands-on in the field.
Whether I'm restoring neglected gardens to their former glory, renovating existing landscapes to better suit your lifestyle, or providing ongoing maintenance to keep your outdoor space flourishing, I treat every project with the same professional commitment and expertise I would expect in my own garden. Your mountain landscape deserves more than just basic care—it deserves someone who understands the delicate balance between beauty and resilience at high elevation.
